Rumors have been spreading across the internet that Sony
intends on releasing its own Smash Bros.-esque fighter featuring several
characters across different franchises. The latest bit of news was a supposed
online survey asking gamers what they thought of the name PlayStation All-Stars
Battle Royale. Bearing in mind that the name is absolutely horrible, this game
still has a lot of potential to be really cool. Now the rumors seem to be
turning into reality because Sony has registered
playstationallstarsbattleroyale.com. There's nothing on the site yet, but the
fact that the domain is registered more than hints at Sony releasing its own
crossover fighter. It also appears that the game will be revealed in the next
episode of GTTV, which is like a really bad game variety show, but let's not
discuss that right now. On his Twitter account, show host Geoff Keighley said,
"As the tv guide listings say, yes, next Thurs on GTTV we are unveiling a
huge new PS3 exclusive with first game footage. More soon!" We'll be
watching out for more details closely. Even though the idea of a
PlayStation-branded fighting game is cool, I still can't get used to that name.
