At least 12 people have been killed after fire swept
through a market warehouse in southern Moscow, officials say. The
victims were migrant workers, AFP news agency quoted the city's emergencies
ministry as saying. The building had been used as living quarters for market
vendors, Russian news agency RIA Novosti reported. The fire at Kachalovsky
market came hours after a blaze at a skyscraper in Moscow, in which no-one was
hurt. "Twelve people died. They were migrant workers. We are trying to
confirm which republic they came from," an emergencies ministry spokesman
told AFP. The fire broke out at about 04:50 (00:50 GMT) and was extinguished
some three hours later, RIA Novosti said, citing officials.
